Susie McEntire entertained a Marion County Fair crowd of nearly 450 Sunday at USD 408's Sports and Aquatic Center in Marion.

“I was very impressed about the numbers who were there for the type of event that it was,” said, Marion Mayor, Mary Olson.

McEntire drew people from Marion, Harvey and Sedgwick counties, and from as far away as Oklahoma.

“The Marion Christian Church ran out of tickets,” fair manager Kelli Savage said. “I had to bring them more. We also sold tickets in Hutchinson, Hillsboro, Lincolnville, Florence, Peabody Cottonwood Falls, and Newton.”

McEntire concert draws about 450 - Hillsboro Free Press

Susie McEntire and her husband, Mark Eaton, share a light moment during an acoustic set and conversation that was part of the country Christian concert Sunday night in Marion. About 450 people gathered at the Sports and Aquatic Center to hear McEntire perform as a prelude to the 83rd annual Marion County Fair. McEntire and Eaton flew to Marion County from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo after participating in Cowboy Church there that morning. During the concert, McEntire presented a message of faith, love and hope through personal stories and song, engaging the crowd and at times singing among the people. Following the concert, which lasted about an hour and a half, McEntire was available for photos and autographs.
